How long does couples therapy usually take?

Every relationship is different, so there is no one-size-fits-all timeline. Some couples come for a few focused sessions around a specific challenge, while others stay longer to do deeper work. During the first session the therapist will discuss goals and give a realistic sense of the road ahead.

Do both partners need to attend every couples therapy session?

In most cases, yes. Couples therapy works best when both partners take part, since much of the work happens in the space between partners. That said, there are times when an individual session can be helpful, and the therapist will always discuss the best approach as therapy progresses.

What can we expect in our first couples therapy session?

The first session is a relaxed, pressure-free conversation. The therapist will get to know both partners, learn what brought them in, and discuss what each hopes to gain. There is no judgment and no expectation to have everything figured out. It is simply the first step toward reconnecting.

How much does therapy cost at TogetherWorks?

Individual therapy sessions are $130 per session and couples sessions are $150 per session. TogetherWorks accepts BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, Cigna, and Evernorth insurance. For out-of-network clients, superbills are provided for possible reimbursement. A sliding scale may be available for those who qualify. Payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, cash, check, ACH transfer, Venmo, Zelle, and Health Savings Account.
